American Idol Surprise Event To Be Revealed Thursday
At the beginning of the top 8 guys performance show, Ryan Seacrest said “It’s a very big week for the show, not only will we give you your top twelve on Thursday, but we’re going to announce one of the most important events in Idol history. Trust me, you’ll want to be here for that on Thursday.”
The important event that Ryan Seacrest referred to is likely the same surprise event that American Idol producers have been teasing about for months. What is the surprise event? The only thing we know for sure is that according to American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe it’s not about an individual. In an interview with TV Week, Lythgoe denied that either Paul McCartney or Michael Jackson would be coming on the show.
Lythgoe also told TV Week, “But it is something very special, and I did say it does involve “American Idol” and it also involves America. It involves the viewers, it involves a whole big issue here. It’s something that I know we’re all very proud of. We’re going to be the first program that will talk about this sort of thing and well, it will have to wait until next time. But I can’t wait to tell you.”
So what is this big surprise event? Lythgoe’s hints are very confusing, but that the surprise event is being announced on the same night as the top twelve finalists are being announced is very interesting. It’s always been very suspicious that many of most featured contestants during the auditions were cut with barely a mention during Hollywood week. Could it be that the American Idol wildcard show is coming back?
If the surprise event is not a wildcard show, then our prediction would be that it is some kind of World Idol competition, maybe with a charitable component. Lythgoe’s reference to that it does involved “American Idol” makes us think that maybe it’s bigger than just America and American Idol. Post your opinions below on what you think the surprise event is.
